O dinheiro acaba em outubro. O último recibo fica preso na geladeira. Na sala sem porta, os sacos de cimento esperam. Cobre tudo com uma lona azul. Dois tijolos seguram as pontas. Mais tarde viram traves para as crianças. A bola bate na lona. Um saco se move. De manhã, a marca da bola fica no pó. Um saco endureceu na beirada. Ela não levanta a lona. A lona junta poeira.

The money runs out in October. The last receipt stays pinned to the fridge. In the room without a door, the cement bags wait. She covers everything with a blue tarp. Two bricks hold down the corners. Later they become goalposts for the children. The ball hits the tarp. One bag shifts. In the morning, the ball’s mark remains in the dust. One bag has hardened along the edge. She does not lift the tarp. The tarp gathers dust.
